I started this business in 2009. As autumn was approaching I needed a new stock for the forthcoming Hunting season and to my surprise the range of stocks available had not moved on since I had bought my last several years beforehand. Only the same checks and patterns were available, all rather dull and unimaginative, mediocre quality fabric and potentially expensive.
So I thought with a little bit more flair and imagination stocks could be revitalised and restored to the rightful place not only as a garment to enhance one’s complexion and provide extra warmth but add protection should a neck injury occur.
Many people pay a lot of attention to their boots, jacket, jodhpurs and hats but just throw on any old stock. Why not combine function, comfort and looks with one garment that frames your face and matches your outfit especially when riding cross country in bright colours or looking one’s best in a traditional tailored dark or tweed coat ?
That said, of course plain white and cream stocks have their place, as do those more traditional colour-ways and checks. As the ex-DC of our local pony club, I know how important it is for all members of the riding fraternity old and young to look neat. But ‘neat’ in this day and age need not be dowdy or generic.
Hence with all my children now working in London, I’m putting my 1960’s “O” level in sewing to use, and bringing you a full range of shaped, 4-fold, traditional, coloured and patterned stocks each hand-finished, machine washable and mostly made in my dining room!
Kind regards …
